Butternut Race Team

As part our efforts to move the Butternut Race Club forward we decided to seek 501c (3) status from the Internal Revenue Service. Next year this will change both the way we operate and the benefits we all get from the Race Club in a number of important ways. The most important change is we will obtain not for profit operating status. This will mean that we can raise funds from donors and they in turn can get a dollar for dollar tax write off (within the current IRC rules). For many of us this will mean we can take advantage of dollar matching programs with our various employers. We will also be able to seek funds from a variety of Foundations. Most of these Foundations can only provide funding to organizations that are recognized as 501 c (3). We know that many large organizations that offer gift matching restrict their programs to gifts to 501 c (3) donations only. To do this, at our Pasta Night meeting on the 15th of March, we convened our first annual meeting during which we held a vote to elect the required officers. Immediately following, the officers elected moved the membership to adopt the Articles and By Laws. The Articles and By Laws are available on our club website.
Our three officers are Greg Kimball, President, Douglas Cowieson, Treasurer and Victoria Lehning, Vice President. This important phase for the Club will move us to a whole new level of organization and funding. We believe this step is vital to the future of the Club. Looking forward to seeing you next year.
