Butternut Race Club

Interclub

This all-day program introduces skiers (ages 6-14) to alpine racing. Coaches help athletes develop fundamental skills while introducing the mental and physical elements of ski racing. The participants will have the opportunity to compete against racers from other Berkshire ski areas in both slalom and giant slalom events. These races give the racers a chance to test newly acquired skills in a competitive environment.

The Interclub team is divided into smaller age groups allowing age-specific development drills to be pursued. Ski Butternut has +100 kids in Interclub. Lifelong bonds develop between racers, as well as between the racers and their respective coaches.

Races are divided by age and gender. There are 5 races each season spread over a variety of nearby ski areas. Both U.S. Ski & Snowboard (USSS) & Tri-State Alpine Racing Association (TSARA) memberships are required.  Registration for TSARA is now included with the USSS membership.

Interclub Schedule

The daily schedule is generally consistent for the entire season. Keep in mind that despite variations in the weather (from pouring rain to bitter cold) the programs are never canceled, unless the mountain itself is closed. Ski Butternut disseminates the schedule and training focus each week via the TeamSnap app.

Within each program, there may be specific instructions given to the athletes regarding schedule changes, meeting points, or training plans. In addition, feel free to contact your child’s coach via TeamSnap with any questions.

Interclub goes from late December to early March and includes Christmas Race Camp. On race days, the coaches will be at the race events and will not be at the Butternut to train kids who have chosen not to race on that day.
